Our Story

Reflex Theatre was founded in March 2020, during the first days of the pandemic.

We saw that theatre would become even more inaccessible.

We saw that opportunities for creatives would be decimated.

We saw that communities would become isolated and forgotten.

From this, we made a simple goal and a simple promise.

To enable everyone's right to access the arts

To inspire positive social action through live experiences

Our Team

Callan Durrant

Artistic Director

Callan trained at Derby Theatre, National Youth Theatre and The Actors Class.

As a director, he has worked extensively with emerging artists, performing arts students, youth theatres, children with special needs and vulnerable young people across the country.

Megan Durrant

Managing Director

Megan trained at the Lincoln School of Film & Media and has featured in numerous productions for BBC Three, Discovery Channel and in the West End.

Megan oversees the creation and development of all of our projects, as well as being the lead writer for Reflex shows.

Sam Dunning

Research & Development

Sam is an award-nominated actor, classically-trained singer, voice-over specialist, internationally published model and theatre critic.

He is dedicated to testing out new ideas, challenging perspectives, helping unheard voices be told and ensuring our work retains the highest quality.

Julia St John

Education & Training

Before Reflex, Julia was a highly regarded social worker helping children & families across the UK.

As well as being committed to making sure all of our work is community focused, she is also a fabulous artist, making her own personal designs as well as crafting a few for Reflex too.

Ben Spiller

Evaluation & Strategy

Ben is the Artistic Director of 1623 Theatre, based in Derby and has been an inspirational mentor to Callan for over a decade.

Ben joins the Reflex family, bringing extensive expertise and knowledge to strengthen our strategies, future planning and growth as a theatre company.

By installing a brand new, state-of-the-art automatic treat dispenser beside his desk/bed.
